I referenced the example and used stripes of various styles, and analogous color scheme. it's basically a shoe covered in socks. i've spent the most time on this piece which is why i don't have much posted yet :/

Lov'n the two painting. this is your media! With the Pear #3--deal with the paper a little bit more. The white of the paper is distracting from the piece as a whole. Don't be afraid to put some real dark values in the work like your have the oil painting #2.
